1. --- How long have you been collecting shells?
--- I have been skating since I was seven years old.
(1)how long意為“多長(zhǎng)時(shí)間”，對(duì)時(shí)間段提問(wèn)，常用for+時(shí)間段或since ... 等表示一段時(shí)間的短語(yǔ)回答，for+時(shí)間段== since+時(shí)間段+ago 。例如：
for five years = since five years ago
(2)how long還可以對(duì)物體長(zhǎng)度進(jìn)行提問(wèn)。例如：How long is the river?
2. since I was 7 years old . 自從我七歲以來(lái)。
(1) Since 作conj.時(shí)，意為“自從；自……以來(lái)”，用來(lái)引導(dǎo)時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句。Since從句常用過(guò)去時(shí)，主句常用完成時(shí)。
My father has taught here since he left school.
(3)作prep.時(shí)，意為“自從；自……以來(lái)”，后接表示過(guò)去時(shí)間點(diǎn)的名詞。
