關(guān)于職場(chǎng)的玻璃屋頂（glass ceiling），相信很多人并不陌生，這個(gè)說法指女性在工作升遷中所遭遇的一種無形的障礙，使其不能升遷至較高級(jí)別的職位。

最近英國的一項(xiàng)研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，英國很多中產(chǎn)家庭的父母，會(huì)想盡辦法幫助自己的孩子接受好的教育，并利用自己的人脈幫助孩子就業(yè)。

說直白一點(diǎn)，這些父母就是在為孩子提供一個(gè)“玻璃地板”，防止他們發(fā)展不利下滑到更低的階層。

一項(xiàng)新的研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，我們的社會(huì)還存在一個(gè)玻璃地板，和玻璃屋頂一樣阻止著社會(huì)流動(dòng)性。

The Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission said better-off families managed to provide educational and social advantages to protect their children from slipping down the social scale in Britain.

英國社會(huì)流動(dòng)和兒童貧困委員會(huì)表示，家境好的家庭會(huì)為孩子提供教育和社交方面的一些優(yōu)勢(shì)資源，以防止孩子在社會(huì)階層上下滑。

A report from the commission said wealthier families helped their children accumulate skills valued by the labour market and they also used social networks to secure internships and employment.

該委員會(huì)的一份報(bào)告指出，富裕家庭會(huì)幫孩子積累人力市場(chǎng)看重的一些技能，同時(shí)還會(huì)利用自己的社交網(wǎng)絡(luò)幫孩子落實(shí)實(shí)習(xí)或者工作機(jī)會(huì)。

That meant poorer, but more able children were often blocked from the finite number of top jobs.

這就意味著，家境不太好但是能力更強(qiáng)的孩子被擋在一部分優(yōu)質(zhì)工作門外。
