amusement的基本意思是指輕松、瑣碎、沒有什么目的的消遣活動,引申可指游樂場所、游樂設(shè)施,是可數(shù)名詞,常用復(fù)數(shù)形式。指抽象的“娛樂”時是不可數(shù)名詞。也可指消遣或娛樂時的感情,即“可笑,愉悅”,這時是不可數(shù)名詞。
amusement可用在其他名詞前作定語。
to sb's amusement的意思是“令某人感到可笑的是”; with amusement的意思是“饒有趣味地”。
用作名詞 (n.) I find amusement in collecting stamps.
我發(fā)現(xiàn)了集郵的樂趣。
He is responsible for the amusement activity.
他負(fù)責(zé)娛樂活動。
His chief amusement is reading novels.
