美式英語(yǔ)中afterwards和afterward都常用,但用afterward更普遍,和shortly連用時(shí)則要用afterwards。
afterwards的意思是“之后”,用于概括有先后時(shí)間順序的一段時(shí)間,強(qiáng)調(diào)事件發(fā)生的先后順序,一般不與表示具體時(shí)間的詞連用,常修飾動(dòng)態(tài)動(dòng)詞,多位于句首或句尾。
afterwards常指整個(gè)時(shí)間,常用在故事、童話(huà)中用以引出某種故事結(jié)局。
afterwards不用于比較等級(jí)。
