Computers are very important to modern life. Many people think that in the future computers will be used in lots of everyday life. It is thought that we won’t have to go shopping because we will be able to get most things which are sold in shops on the Internet. There will be no more books because we will be able to get all texts from computers. The Internet will be used to play games, see films and buy food. Most telephone calls will be made by computers, too.
Some people are glad about these new ways of shopping and communicating. Others do not think that computers will replace our old ways.
Let’s look at books, for example, some people think that one day we will not read books made of paper. Instead, we will buy and read books using computers. We will read texts on small pocket computers. The computers will keep many different books in them at the same time. We won’t need to turn lots of pages and paper will be saved. Computerized books will be used more and more.
Is Internet shopping such a pleasure as going to the shop? Many people say it is not. It is a pleasure to go into shops and look at things you want to buy. It is also unlikely that many people will want to read large texts on our computers, because paper books will perhaps be more friendly. Maybe computers won’t change these two habits.
61. In the first paragraph it is thought people will use computers for _______.
A. playing games, shopping and making telephone calls
B. making telephone calls, having meals and seeing films
C. seeing films, buying food, and going for holidays

D. We won’t need any paper.
63. Paragraph 4 tells _______.
A. about the old and new ways of shopping and communicating
B. if the Internet will change our habits
C. about computerized books
D. about future uses of computers
64. The best title for this passage is _______.
A. Computers Will Replace Shops and Books B. Computers’ Role in the Future
C. Computers Will Do Everything for Man D. How Computers Change Our Habits

Last week the manager of an old jeweler’s shop received a letter marked “personal”, so of course his secretary gave it to him unopened. As he was very busy, the letter lay on his desk till tea-time. Then he opened it and a £10 note fell out onto his desk. With the note was a short letter. This is what it said:
Dear sir,

Kong Zi , also called Confucius (551-479 B. C) , and Socrates (469-399 B. C) lived only a hundred years apart , and during their lifetime there was no contact(聯(lián)系) between China and Greece, but it is interesting to look at how the world that each of these great philosophers came from shaped their ideas , and how these ideas in turn ,shaped their societies.
Neither philosopher lived in times of peace, though there were more wars in Greece than in China. The Chinese states were very large and feudal, while the Greek city-states were small and urban. The urban environment in which Socrates lived allowed him to be more radical(激進(jìn)的)than Confucius. Unlike Confucius, Socrates was not asked by rules how to govern effectively. Thus, Socrates was able to be more idealistic, focusing on issues like freedom, and knowledge for its own sake. Confucius, on the other hand, advised those in government service, and many of his students went out to government service.
Confucius suggested the Golden Rule as a principle for the conduct of life:” Do not do to others what you would not want others to do to you. ” He assumed that all men were equal at birth, though some had more potential than others, and that it was knowledge that set men apart. Socrates focused on the individual, and thought that the greatest purpose of man was to seek wisdom. He believed that the superior class should rule the inferior(下層的)classes.
For Socrates, the family was of no importance, and the community of little concern. For Confucius, however, the family was the centre of the society, with family relations considered much more important than political relations.
Both men are respected much more today than they were in their lifetimes.
69. Which of the following is TURE according to the first paragraph?

A. Family. B. Potential. C. Knowledge. D. Community.
72. This passage is organized in the pattern of_________.
A. time and events B. comparison and contrast
C. cause and effect D. definition and classification

Six other cycle roads will be upgraded(加強(qiáng)), with clearer signs for walkers and cyclists. Roads will be widened to cope with traffic. The area north of the Olympic Park will get 2,000 bike parking spaces, with 200 spaces to the south.
