用：也說her mother's daughter（跟她媽一樣）。
意：跟他老子一樣；跟他爸一樣；真是他爸的兒子
例：Simon is his father's son all right-same ginger hair and violent temper!
西蒙真像他爸?同樣的姜黃色頭發(fā)、同樣的暴脾氣！
She is her mother's daughter-beautiful and intelligent.
她跟她媽一個(gè)樣?又漂亮，又聰明。
the fat is in the fire
意：這下事情搞糟了；捅婁子了
例:When your mother finds out what you've done, the fat wi11 really be in the fire.
要是你媽發(fā)現(xiàn)你干的事，就麻煩了。
far be it from me
用：后接不定式短語，表示說話人實(shí)在忍不住才插話，才說，才發(fā)表自己的看法，盡管他決不愿這樣做。
意：我決不會(huì)…（但…）；我實(shí)在不該…（但…）；我不想的 （可是…）；（雖說）我不該（不適合…）…
例，F(xiàn)ar be it from me to criticize her; I just think she's behaved extremely badly.
我實(shí)在不想批評(píng)她，只是我認(rèn)為她的行為太差勁兒了。
Far be it from me to ask embarrassing questions, but I must find out the facts.
我實(shí)在不想問難堪的問題，但我必須查清事實(shí)。
