Zhang Jizhong is Suspected of Copying

Not long ago, a series of new images for the major characters in the film Journey to the West(《西游記》) designed by Zhang Jizhong(張記中)was made known to the public. according to Mr. Zhang, Sun Wukong(孫悟空)would appear in the form of a human being instead of a monkey; Tang Sen(唐僧)would look like a masculine man instead of a handsome young man; and Zhu Bajie(豬八戒)would be a wild boar (野豬)instead of a domestic pig. Such images, which are totally different from the traditional ones, have caused a great shock.

however, an article published on a famous online forum expressed strong doubt about Mr. Zhang’s originality(原創(chuàng)性), saying that such images were very similar to those in a cartoon book published in Hong Kong. In the article, the author made a detailed comparison between Mr. Zhang’s ideas and the descriptions in the book, with a lot of cartoons as evidence to show the similarity. So many online readers agreed that Mr. Zhang was suspected of copying. But Mr. Zhang denied having ever read such a book, saying that he would be very interested in such an imaginative book which could broaden his mind. He also said that his ideas were on solid ground, for, according to traditional Chinese culture, one’s appearance could change with his mind. Therefore, such a change of images was quite natural.

As to the materials he referred to in the process of shooting the film, Mr. Zhang mentioned the picture-story books which he read as a child. He said that he wanted to get rid of the identical aspects in the new version in an imaginative and expressive way. At present he is busy writing the script and preparing for the shooting.

張紀中《西游記》構想被指抄襲漫畫

孫悟空應該是人形，唐僧不是小白臉而是硬漢，豬八戒投胎不是家豬是野豬……前不久，張紀中關于重拍《西游記》的一系列角色構想曝光后可謂石破天驚，完全顛覆了人們對傳統(tǒng)《西游記》人物的想象。

然而，國內(nèi)某知名論壇卻以頭條位置刊發(fā)網(wǎng)友文章，對張紀中的原創(chuàng)性表示強烈質(zhì)疑，認為存在過多與香港一部漫畫書不謀而合的地方。該名網(wǎng)友質(zhì)疑張紀中抄襲，不僅將漫畫中的描述與張紀中的想法逐一對比，還貼出多幅漫畫相佐證。因而多數(shù)網(wǎng)友都認同張紀中的構想有抄襲之嫌。不過，張紀中卻否認看過這部漫畫：“如果有這樣充滿想象力的漫畫，我也想看看，可以開拓思路。”他還表示自己的想法是有充分依據(jù)：“中國的傳統(tǒng)文化一直有相隨心變的說法，豬八戒變野豬、孫悟空被緊箍咒變回猴形，一點也不奇怪。”

至于籌拍《西游記》的過程中參考了哪些資料，張紀中表示靠的是小時候看連環(huán)畫等資料的印象。對于新版《西游記》，他希望能去掉雷同的部分，展示超凡的想象力和表現(xiàn)力，目前他正忙于該劇的劇本創(chuàng)作和拍攝資源整合。
