1. allow (doing) sth 允許(做)某事。如：

The facts allow no other explanation. 事實不允許有其他的解釋。

注：有時用于被動語態(tài)。如：

Dogs are not allowed. 狗不得入內。

Smoking is not allowed here. 此處不準吸煙。

2. allow sb to do sth 允許某人做某事。如：
