◆cheat v.

1. 表示“哄騙”、“騙取”，是及物動(dòng)詞，其賓語通常是人而不是物，且不能接雙賓語。表示騙取某人某物，常用句型是 cheat sb(out) of sth。如：

他騙了這個(gè)老人的錢。

正：He cheated the old man (out) of his money.

誤：He cheated (the old man) his money.

2. 表示騙取某人做某事，其常用句型為 cheat sb into (doing)sth。如：

They cheated her into marrying him. 他們騙她同他結(jié)婚。

3. 表示“舞弊”、“欺騙”，通常不及物，注意其后所接介詞。如：

He often cheats at cards. 他打牌經(jīng)常作弊。

He cheated in [on] the examination. 他考試舞弊。

◆choice n.

1. 表示“選擇”、“抉擇”，可用作可數(shù)或不可數(shù)名詞。如：

You have your choice. 你有選擇的自由。

He is faced with a difficult choice. 他面臨困難的抉擇。

注：表示作出選擇，通常用動(dòng)詞 make。如：

We each had to make a choice. 我們每個(gè)人都得作出抉擇。

2. 注意以下與介詞的習(xí)慣搭配：

make a choice between the two 在這兩者中選擇

make a choice among the three 在這三者中選擇

have a choice between A and B 在 A 和 B 當(dāng)中選擇

3. 用于 have no choice but to do sth, 意為“除做……以外，別無選擇”或“只好做……”。如：

He has no choice but to go with them. 他沒有辦法，只好跟他們?nèi)ァ?/p>

◆choose v.

1. 表示“選擇”，可以帶雙賓語。如：

He chose me a nice present. /He chose a nice present for me. 他為我選了件漂亮的禮物。

比較以下帶復(fù)合賓語的情形以及其相關(guān)句型：

They chose me chairman. /They chose me as [for] chairman. /They chose me to be chairman. 他們選我當(dāng)主席。

2. 表示在兩者之間選擇用介詞 between, 表示在三者之間選擇用介詞 among(有時(shí)也用其它介詞)。如：

He had to choose between death and dishonour. 他必須在死亡和屈辱之間作出選擇。

He chose three among [from, out of] these books. 他從這些書中挑選了三本。

注意下面動(dòng)詞 choose 后的介詞一般不能省去：

這些書可供你選擇。

正：Here are some books for you to choose from [among].

誤：Here are some books for you to choose.

3. 后可接不定式，可表示“決定”、“寧愿”。如：

He chose to go with us. 他決定同我們一起去。

He didn’t choose to marry her. 他不愿同她結(jié)婚。

He chose not to tell her. 他決定不告訴她。
