　　用：也說her mother's daughter（跟她媽一樣）。
　　意：跟他老子一樣；跟他爸一樣；真是他爸的兒子
　　例：Simon is his father's son all right-same ginger hair and violent temper!
　　西蒙真像他爸—同樣的姜黃色頭發(fā)、同樣的暴脾氣！
　　She is her mother's daughter-beautiful and intelligent.
　　她跟她媽一個樣—又漂亮，又聰明。
　　the fat is in the fire
　　意：這下事情搞糟了；捅婁子了
　　例:When your mother finds out what you've done, the fat wi11 really be in the fire.
　　要是你媽發(fā)現(xiàn)你干的事，就麻煩了。
　　far be it from me
　　用：后接不定式短語，表示說話人實在忍不住才插話，才說，才發(fā)表自己的看法，盡管他決不愿這樣做。
　　意：我決不會…（但…）；我實在不該…（但…）；我不想的 （可是…）；（雖說）我不該（不適合…）…
　　例，F(xiàn)ar be it from me to criticize her; I just think she's behaved extremely badly.
　　我實在不想批評她，只是我認為她的行為太差勁兒了。
　　Far be it from me to ask embarrassing questions, but I must find out the facts.
　　我實在不想問難堪的問題，但我必須查清事實。
