譯文
南朝金陵興盛的情景，而今誰還能記憶呢？江岸環(huán)繞著髻鬟似的山峰相對聳立。長江的大浪長年累月?lián)浯蜻@座孤獨而寂寞的古城張著風帆的船正向遙遠的天邊駛去。臨水的陡峭山崖上的樹好像倒下來靠在崖上.莫愁姑娘或許曾在這里系過艇子吧！一切只剩下陳跡了，但只見郁郁蒼蒼一派青色，還有那濃霧中露出的半截城壘。夜半更深，月亮從女墻上升起來，而賞心亭東望著秦淮河.
那酒旗飄揚、鑼鼓喧天的熱鬧景象究竟到休息去尋找呢？想來就是東晉時代王謝家族的府居所在。燕子不知道這是什么世代。燕子在夕陽里喃喃細語，好像也在相互訴說這里的盛衰興亡吧。
注釋
西河：唐教坊曲。
佳麗地：指江南。更指金陵 。用南朝奇謝眺《入城曲》詩句“江南佳麗地，金陵帝王州”。
南朝盛事：南朝宋、齊、染、陳四朝建都于金陵。
髻鬟對起：以女子髻鬟喻在長江邊相對而屹立的山。
莫愁相傳為金陵善歌之女。
女墻：城墻上的矮墻。
燕子不知何世：劉禹錫《烏衣巷》：“朱雀橋邊野草花，烏衣巷口夕陽斜。舊時王謝堂前燕，飛入尋常百姓家。”
